As a homeowner, you understand that it is essential to have Florida home insurance. So, you choose the most basic coverage and call it a day, right? Well, no. A typical homeowners insurance policy will cover the bases, but that does not mean it is enough. There are a variety of supplemental policies that homeowners should look into.

It is important to have knowledge and understanding of all your options! Here are a few policies that should not be overlooked:

#1: Flood insurance: It is important to know that flood insurance is NOT a part of your average home policy, making this coverage crucial in order to cover your possessions, home and valuables in the event of a flood.

#2: Valuable articles/Floater insurance: Both policies should be purchased if you have any valuables that may exceed your typical coverage. Items can include: electronics, valuable collections (coin, stamp, etc.), fine jewelry, diamonds, art, etc.

#3: Umbrella insurance: This policy acts as a safety net to your current policies. If your homeowners insurance policy is exhausted, umbrella insurance will kick in as backup.

#4: Animal liability: Have a house full of pets? Having this policy will make sure any damages caused by your furry friends are completely covered.

Now that you are aware of all your options, it is time to figure out which Florida home insurance policies you will benefit from! If you have any questions or need help choosing, feel free to speak with us at The Welch Group. Our insurance experts would be happy to help!
